//About Gallagher Longboards //
Gallagher Longboards was started in 2005 with just a couple of guys who shared the same passion for longboarding. We were dissatisfied with many of the boards on the market, so we started making our own. The first boards were, for lack of a better word, “ok”. Of course, trial and error prevailed. We finally started making boards that were “rideable”. Then, we started making boards that we actually enjoyed riding. ! That is when things started to take off. We started listing our garage-made boards on ebay and the response we received was overwhelming. We sold over a hundred garage-made boards over the course of 2006. To us, this was a great success.
Nearing the end of 2007, we decided to sit down and hold a meeting of what we really wanted to do with the company. We got to the point where we were taking more orders than we could fill. It was decided that we needed to move on to a larger shop and needed to order a lot more Canadian Maple. As of this February 2008, we went into full production. Our first board is offspring of hours of brainstorming, sketching, building prototypes, and test riding. We decided on a comfortable campus cruiser that could carve and control wi! th pinpoint accuracy and is just plainly a joy to ride.
The Waverly measures 32’’ long and 8.5’’ wide and has a light to medium flex. The trucks are set very close to the nose and tail providing more stability. Adding to the stability is the shape of the board itself. The slight drop of the mid-section of the board results in a lower center of gravity. As an unintentional added bonus, is the ability to do some sick endo nose rides for the more stylish riders out there. We were completely satisfied with the board before we put it into production, and! so were our customers who we allowed to test-ride.
We are proud to be established in the United States and have the board manufacturing to be done entirely right here in the US while keeping a competitive price to other boards that our outsourced. It is really important to keep the money flowing right here in the states with the current economic situation. We anticipate a great lineup for 2008-2009. We are currently updating the website to create a community of riders of The Waverly and their videos. The most rewarding part of running a longboard company is to hear and see boarders enjoying our product whether t! hey are using it in competition or as a daily commuter to class. We look forward to serving the boarding industry for a very long time.
